Ursula Huws is an associate fellow of IES and the director of the social and economic research con­sultancy Analytica. She has been carrying out economic and social research on various aspects of the restructuring of labour markets, the impact of technological change, teleworking, globalisation, equality of opportunity and the future of welfare systems for over twenty years. Her research clients at an inter­national level include the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organisation and the United Nations University. She has also carried out research and consultancy and presented seminars for national and local government departments in Europe, North America and Asia as well as in the UK where, amongst other positions, she sits on the Economic Advisory Panel of the Rural Development Commission. Formerly a senior lecturer in research methodology at the University of North London (1990-1995), she is the author of a large number or books, articles and reports and has lectured throughout Europe and in Canada, the United States, India and Malaysia.
