CTC's
manager, Imogen Bertin, founded the Telework Ireland association for
teleworkers and the Communications Workers Union of Ireland trade union services
for teleworkers. Imogen is a member of the Irish government's e-work Action
Forum. CTC has operated telework helpline for enquirers since 1993 receiving
up to 2,500 calls a year and has organised six Irish telework conferences. Imogen
Bertin has presented at telework conferences in Berlin, Newfoundland, Brussels,
Aarhus, Stockholm, and London and around Ireland (Forbairt Teleservices roadshows
1996).
Involvement
in EU research projects and programmes: Regiodesk (online helpdesk, 1994); Telework
Europa (online forum for teleworkers, 1995); Telemart (telework recruitment
agency, 1994); ETD (European dissemination and awareness programme on teleworking,
1996); TOSCA (social observation of call centres, 1999). Member of the Irish
government expert panel on the EU’s Fifth Framework Research Programme for Information
Society issues. Approved evaluator of European Commission research projects
in the IST area.
