Dr. Lutz Bellmann, born 1956 in Hamburg/Germany, has studied economics at the University of Hannover, where he received his diploma in 1980 and his doctoral degree in 1985. From 1980 - 1988 he was research assistant at the Institute for Statistics and Econometrics, University of Hannover. From 1988-1997 he was research officer at the Institute for Employment Research, Nuernberg. Since then he is head of both the IAB Establishment Project and the department of labourforce demand and innovation research. He is also lecturer at the University of Wuerzburg as he was before at the University of Bamberg and the University of Public Administration in Speyer. His current research interests include econometric studies in labour economics, especially eomployment, apprenticeship training, further training, industrial relations, evaluation of active labour market policies and linked employer-employee-panels. Lutz Bellmann is consultant to the European Communities' PHARE-programme on labour market restructuring in the Czech Republic, and he is a research associate of CEDEFOP and the IZA-Institute for the Study of Labour
