
Joanne Pratt, President of Joanne H. Pratt Associates, is a futurist who researches new patterns of work enabled by emerging technologies. She also helps organisations implement telework. Research clients include the US Small Business Administration, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Departments of Labour, Housing and Urban Design, AT&T, Sprint, Southwestern Bell Telephone and the International Telework Association and Council. To count the new mobile workforce, she conceived the strategy of piggybacking work-at-home questions onto existing governmental and private surveys. Publications include Asking the Right Questions about Telecommuting, Counting the New Mobile Workforce, Homebased Businesses, Myths and Realities of Working at Home, Policy and Travel Planning Implications of Work/Life Changes, and Teamwork, Trust and Technology. Ms Pratt has presented papers at conferences in England, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Canada and Australia. She is currently researching e-work and is a member of an international team developing standards for surveys. Her degrees are from Oberlin College and Harvard University.
