
Rik Huys obtained his Master's degree in Social Sciences in 1988 at the Catholic University of Leuven. From 1989, he worked as a research associate at the Faculty of Social Sciences, where he conducted research in the field of the organisational restructurering of companies. From 1996 onwards, he worked at the Higher Institute for Labour Studies (HIVA-K.U.Leuven), where he published on the topic of the quality of working life. In 2000, he obtained a Ph D at the Catholic University of Leuven with his dissertation on 'The structure of the division of labour in the Belgian car assembly industry'. Currently, he fulfils a Post-doctoral mandate at the Department of Sociology of Labour and Organisations at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He is currently working on the division of labour in organisations and its consequences for the quality of labour.
